Learning to know yourself!
We were honored to welcome on January 23rd, 2019 a panel of speakers from PFLAG talking about their life experiences and answering questions posed by high schoolers from Westview School of Arts & Technology.
PFLAG is PARENTS, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Since its founding in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, the organization has grown to over 400 chapters in all 50 states.
Our speakers discussed the process of understanding and accepting various expressions of gender identity and sexual orientation. Matthew Wilkens, Head of School, observed: “They did a great job connecting their stories/experiences with the students.”
Here’s what students had to say:
“I just wanted to say thank you for coming! It’s very cool to hear the parents’ side.”
“Thank you for serving as examples of positive acceptance.”
About PFLAG
